In the Presence of the Crow
6 paintings, mixed media on canvas: 1 painting (300 x 300 cm), 2 paintings (150 x 150 cm each), 2 paintings (200 x 150 cm each), 1 painting (100 x 170 cm); Ramallah Municipality’s Old Building, Ramallah
The crow, who we are raised to see as a symbol of pessimism, becomes suddenly an assumed friend, presented either alone in the space of the painting, or the two faces of a crow and a human woven into one, or standing on a girl’s hand, but alienated from each other by the space that separates them. And sometimes we see him standing on the figures' heads, superior to them like a king on a throne.
The relationship between the crow and the figures continues to stimulate my curiosity, and I still ask the continuous question about the reasons for choosing this confusing relation.
