New Building Project: On-Site Progress

  Construction works continue at AMQF’s new building site, where the installation of exterior sidings and interior partition walls has started. Parts of the building’s exterior walls will be cladded with aluminum and glass, while other portions, with the famous waved pink stone from the Palestinian town of Tarqumiyah.

Omar Al-Qattan Visits the Child Center and the ‘Child-Friendly Areas’ Project

  Omar Al-Qattan, Chair of the AMQF Board of Trustees, and Ziad Khalaf, AMQF Director-General, paid a three-day visit to the Gaza Strip, starting February 15, 2017.   Al-Qattan and Khalaf met with the Child Center-Gaza/AMQF Director, Nihaya Sirsawi, as well as the Center’s team and a group of children and parents.     ...more

The Science Studio – On-Site Progress

  The first stage of the finishing works at the AMQF Science Studio is nearly complete. The following works will involve electrical wiring installation, among other things. The Science Studio was allotted a space in the Ramallah Entertainment Complex by the Ramallah Municipality and is expected to be delivered to AMQF late April 2017.   ...more

Ramallah: Preparatory Workshop with UK Musician Jeff Thompson for Palestine Music Expo

  The Palestine Music Expo, in cooperation with the AMQF Culture and Arts Program (CAP), organized a workshop titled “Let Your Music Shine[AO1] ”, led by UK musician, Jeff Thompson, director and founder of Un-Convention – a global music network and development agency. The workshop was held Saturday, January 28, 2017, in the AMQF headquarters in Ramallah, in preparation for the April Palestine Music Expo. ...more

  In November Bashir Abu-Manneh spoke at The Mosaic Rooms about his new book about the Palestinian Novel. In the book he considers Palestinian literature produced after the Nakba, and asks what the Palestinian novel reveals about the Palestinian experience.   ...more

Educational Research and Development Programme

Professional Development Exchange Programme Launched

  On Monday, February 6, the exchange programme under the ‘Professional Development of Early Childhood Educators’ Project was launched. The program is organized by AMQF’s Educational Research and Development Programme (ERDP) and is to be held in the UK.   Five Palestinian kindergarten teachers will take part in the program, under the supervision of AMQF’s Director of the Languages and Social Sciences Stream, Malek Rimawi, and researcher Vivian Tannous. ...more

Gaza: CCG Launches the 2017 Winter Program, “Rainbow”

  The Child Center-Gaza/AMQF is launching “Rainbow”, its winter program for 2017. The program features various activities, training courses and cultural, art, science and technology events for parents and children to enjoy during the winter vacation.   The training courses start on January 10, 2017 and end on January 28, 2017.  ...more

Gaza: The Child Center Holds a Literary Encounter with Tariq Bakri

“Whenever a thought pops into my mind, I write – whether I am surrounded by candles, in the midst of noise or in the middle of the street…” With these words of encouragement spoke Dr. Tariq Bakri, author of many children's books, to children at the literary encounter organized Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Child Center-Gaza/AMQF, via Skype, as part of the Rainbow winter calendar at the House of Literature children’s club.     ...more

AMQF Hosts Talk on the Context of Artwork Production

    The AMQF hosted a talk between Palestinian artist Majd Abdel Hamid and Brazilian artist Jian Sapina, recently, on the context of artwork production, using the latter’s works as material for discussion.   During the talk, Sabina presented some of his experiences and artworks, which he then discussed with Abdel Hamid and members of the audience.    ...more

Subcontracted Nations: Open call

  The A. M. Qattan Foundation invites artists, academics, researchers, writers, collectives, filmmakers, poets, storytellers, and any others, to submit material and entries to be considered for the group exhibition Subcontracted Nations between March 1 and April 15, 2017. The exhibition will be launched at the inaugural opening of the A. M. Qattan Foundation’s new building in Ramallah, in October 2017.   ...more
