The School and Cinema project represents the first stage in a bigger initiative whose underlying aims are to support models of alternative educational, and to encourage teachers to communicate their educational aspirations and expectations in the classroom.
The focus in this stage is to give teachers and students the opportunity to discover film’s educational potential, and to explore different ways of using it in the classroom.
Students will also have the opportunity to organise a film festival in their town, with the support of their school and teachers. They will be put in charge of choosing the films, as well as making all the necessary arrangements, including designing advertisements and arranging venues. By getting involved in all aspects of planning, students will have the opportunity to exercise their critical faculties, and learn how to think about and discuss the language of film.
