More than thirty grants to distribute films in DVD format addressing Palestinian issues were provided. These films were distributed to the forty-six schools participating in the pioneering Schools Film Education Programme, along with the clubs and private facilities affiliated with Shabaka, the Network of Arab Arthouse Screens in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. In this way, we have ensured that Palestinian films will be seen by concerned communities, or at least large parts of them. Our hope is that this project will lay the foundations for strong local and even general audiences for these films – since, without such audiences, our national film industry will not survive.
