An invitation— as part of the exhibition project Face:out—to rethink our relationship with public space through proposed artistic interventions for the A.M. Qattan Foundation building in Al-Tireh, which opens its facades, gardens, facilities, and public areas as a space for experimentation and collective inquiry.
The project seeks to explore the audience’s relationship with the building and reflect on the distance between imagination and creation in a time when public space is shrinking both materially and symbolically. Public space is not merely a physical location, but a site where social relations are shaped, and where presence, representation, and belonging are constantly negotiated. It is also where politics are practiced daily through the closure of these spaces, the restriction of access during moments of tension, or the transformation of architecture to serve political ends.
Yet, such spatial restrictions are continually met with counter-creativity: through collective gestures, interventions, and reimagined uses of the shared environment. How do we continue to gather, to dream, to resist? To reconfigure how we relate to our environments and to one another.
We invite emerging artists, architects, students, and cultural practitioners to propose visual, sonic, installation-based, or interdisciplinary works that engage with the building and the public who moves through it. We welcome proposals that reinterpret its spaces, challenge its functions, or extend its meaning into broader and unexpected contexts.
